We are a simple family from the hills of Ponta do Sol, living a life deeply rooted in tradition. In our cozy home, we bake Madeira’s beloved Bolo do Caco and share the joy of cooking, culture, and connection with everyone who visits.
Our mother, Nati, has been baking bread for over 30 years and loves to share her knowledge, teaching anyone how to bake it themselves. Together as a family, we also introduce people to traditional drinks like poncha and the rich stories behind them, creating an experience as warm and welcoming as our home.
At the heart of our home is our traditional kitchen, where the magic happens. Equipped with a firewood oven, it’s where our mother spends much of her time baking and where we pass on the art of making Madeira’s beloved Bolo do Caco.
Once the baking is done, we gather on the patio to enjoy what we’ve created together. Surrounded by the peaceful greenery of the hills, it’s a moment to savor connection, flavor, and tradition.
Nestled in the quiet village of Canhas, on the hills of Ponta do Sol, our home is surrounded by the beauty of nature. Here, we grow our own vegetables and tend to fruit trees, including oranges, plums, lemon guava, and sweetsop — some of Madeira Island’s finest fruits.
Guests are welcome to pick and enjoy these fresh fruits straight from the trees, savoring their natural, vibrant flavors.
